YoThe St. Lazare Horse Trails are a treasure. This time of year is a great time to discover the different trails and where they lead. They aren't just meant for horses and their riders.
My puppy Hazel loves to walk the trails and she is happy to bring me along. With the Fall colours having recently begun, what a glorious way to give yourself a treat. Don't let the cold or rain stop you... I have learned that if you are dressed appropriately, a walk in our public trails is always enjoyable.
The public trails in the St. Laz and Hudson areas touch many of the burrows. Our land's limit is right on my favorite public trail. I get to see families, horses, and wildlife regularly without even needing to be hiking. If there is anything in St. Laz that must continue to be protected and respected, it is our trails and of course the bogs.
If you would like to learn more about the trails be sure to visit Club Équestre Les Forestiers. Their site provides the best information and you'll also find maps of the different trails.
When walking your pets, be sure to always pick up after them. Pick up after yourself too. If there's a fallen branch, remove it. If you see garbage, bring it home to your bin. When spotting wildlife, remember that you are their guest.
Having a cell phone and water when you are out walking, is always a good idea. If you don't have a cell phone, tell someone where you're going. You can get lost or hurt.
It's not about the destination. It's about the journey. Enjoy our glorious St. Lazare public trails.
